His soft tissue surgery interests include thoracic, abdominal and cancer surgery. Dr. Stuart Sherburne
Dr. Sherburne obtained a BS from the University of Vermont, an MS from Utah State University and his DVM from Tufts University. He owned a mixed animal practice in Maine for many years, managing multiple veterinarians and support staff in a practice that served three rural counties. His practice focus was on small animal surgery and equine lameness and surgery. He also worked for the State of Maine as a consulting veterinarian for various wildlife projects.
In the second half of his career, he decided to further his training in small animal surgery and spent two years training in ACVS surgical internship and residency programs where he had the benefit of working with and learning advanced procedures from nationally recognized surgical experts. His areas of interest are joint disease, fracture repair and spinal surgery. He routinely uses minimally invasive surgical techniques like arthroscopy when it is in the best interests of his patients. Dr. Sherburne limits his practice scope to orthopedic surgery and a few select soft tissue procedures.

Born and raised in Oxford Hills, he grew up in a family of animal lovers who began bringing pets in when he was 11, starting with Beckett, a Golden Retriever who has since passed.
Kyle was inspired to enter the veterinary field when he was still in high school and learned of an increase in animal cruelty, abuse, and neglect in his home state. He wanted to do something to reverse that trend.

At home, she cares for Ruby, a crazy Redbone Coonhound; Tank, a sweet and smart hound/Lab mix; Phantom, a sweet rescue cat; Misty, a rescue diva cat; and Guantanamo, a crested gecko she’s had since he was just an egg. She’s also the proud owner of 23 bantam chickens.

She currently shares a home with her two cats, Ragdoll Edelman and Domestic Short Hair Gisele, and her two dogs, Drogo the Rottweiler and Daemon the Siberian Husky. She attended Pima Medical Institute in San Marcos, CA, earning her certificate in veterinary assisting in January of 2024.
Anna has always held an immense amount of passion in her heart for the well-being of all creatures and she’s incredibly proud to be able to bring comfort to not only the animals themselves, but their owners as well.
Receptionists
Stephanie, Orthopedic Liaison
Stephanie joined our team, having heard of NVH from a friend. She knew she wanted to work with animals when she was still in elementary school and visited a veterinary hospital booth during a job fair.
She’s had pets her whole life. Her furry family currently consists of Tucker, a very mellow yellow Lab who thinks he’s a lap dog and listens to Stephanie’s eight-year-old daughter better than he does to her, and Owen, a cray husky/pom mix who lives by his own rules.
In her free time, Stephanie loves taking road trips with her daughter and being with family.
Tina, Client Service Representative
Tina is a native of Maine. After her father’s service in Vietnam, he moved the family to New Jersey, but when her parents divorced 10 years later, Tina returned to her home state where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Medical Secretarial Sciences and worked in medical transcription for 30 years.
She learned about the possibility of working in the veterinary field from her son, a veterinary technician. She applied here shortly thereafter and was hired.
Tina’s furry family includes two Llewellin Setters, Moxie and Sawyer. Both are working dogs who hunt grouse and woodcock and keep things very interesting around the house.
In her free time, Tina enjoys hunting, as well as quilting and working on her home remodel project. Her newest project was her daughter-in-law’s wedding gown.
Calli, Client Service Representative
She resides at her family home in Casco with her two huskies, Kaisha & Willow, two cats adopted from Harvest Hills, Sonny & Levi, and 18 laying hens. During her free time she enjoys exploring local trails with her dog Willow, her sister, and her sisters dog Bentley as well as boating on Sebago Lake in the Summer.

Carissa, Receptionist

She had many dogs growing up, including a yellow lab and a border collie. Her current fur family consists of Gunner, a high energy Mini-Australian Shepherd who loves to hike, and Shiloh, a mellow hound mix who is content to stay home cuddled in a blanket. They also recently added Puff the Bearded Dragon to the pack, whose favorite activities include laying in the sun and eating bugs. In her personal time, she likes to go hiking with her dogs, work on her home remodel, kayak, spend time with family and friends, and read books.
